Tyrone a Turtle Tale by Sue Foley and Illustrated by Carrie Kabak

When you learn that you can solve your own problems, it makes you feel so good about yourself! Especially if you're a turtle and your problem is a big one like Tyrone's. He couldn't play the new game, Turtle Hide and Seek, with his friends because suddenly he couldn't get his head inside his shell anymore. Tyrone is determined to overcome this obstacle, and with the help of a special friend, he does. He can finally join the turtle games!

Author Sue Foley was, until her death from breast cancer in 1990, the Media Center Director for Amesti School, a grade school primarily serving the children of migrant farm workers in the agricultural community of Watsonville, California. With a Master of Library Science degree, she devoted her knowledge, talent, and career to bringing joy and enlightenment into the lives of her students. Tyrone was completed shortly before her death at the age of 45 and is being published by her brother as a tribute to her. Proceeds from sales of the book will be donated to the National Alliance for Research in Schizophrenia and Depression and to the University of California-San Francisco Comprehensive Cancer Center.
