NOW SHE STANDS A Survivor’s Path to Empowerment is a must-read for all who have endured and survived having their spouse abuse them. It takes great courage to escape domestic violence and not only heal but also to thrive. Author Pam Tibbitts did just that (it took her seven tries to leave), and she has not only healed but works with other survivors to recreate their lives. She emphasizes her message loud and clear:
“Abuse is not your fault.
You did nothing to deserve it.
You are not alone!”
NOW SHE STANDS tells the author’s story, and it is also full of information: the definition of domestic violence, what accountable language is, phases of the cycle of abuse, grooming and tactics abusers use, such as gaslighting, withholding, diverting, trivializing, crazy-making, isolation, etc. Why do victims stay? How do victims escape? Why do victims sometimes go back?
Give this book to friends, family, clergy, politicians, and of course to anyone you know who is in a situation where her husband is abusing her.
